Thoughtful professionals.
Real people.
About Blue Door Psychology.
Blue Door Psychology was created with families in mind. We understand that seeking an assessment often comes during a time of uncertainty — when school concerns are mounting, emotions are running high at home, and parents are feeling tired, stretched or unsure where to turn next. Many families arrive after a long journey of waitlists, unclear processes or feeling unheard. Our intention is to offer something different: a calm, respectful and transparent experience where you feel listened to, informed and genuinely supported from the very beginning.
We are a small, family-run practice, and that shapes how we work. As both professionals and parents ourselves, we appreciate how significant these decisions can feel. We value clear communication, transparency and practical guidance - not just diagnostic labels, but meaningful insight that helps families feel steadier and more confident moving forward.
Meet Our Team
Alex Strauss
PRINCIPAL CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
B. Sc (Hons), M. Psych Clin, MAPS
Alex is our primary clinical psychologist and lead assessor at Blue Door Psychology. He has extensive experience providing psychological assessments for children and adolescents, with a strong focus on neurodevelopmental, learning, and complex presentations.
Alex is known for his ability to work confidently with children whose presentations may more complex, subtle, A-typical, or non-textbook and is often recommended for young people who do not fit neatly into a single profile.
A self-described “supremely silly” young man himself, Alex has a natural ability to build rapport quickly and put children at ease. His warm, playful approach helps young people feel comfortable and engaged, allowing them to show their true strengths and challenges during the assessment process. Many children enjoy working with Alex so much that they are keen to return for another visit.
Eran Bar
PSYCHOLOGIST, CLINICAL REGISTRAR
B. (Hons), M. Psych Clin, MAAPI
Eran is a psychologist who brings a thoughtful, encouraging, and collaborative approach to his work with young people and families. He has experience supporting children and adolescents across a range of presentations, with a strong focus on helping young people and their parents better understand the reasons behind challenges they may be experiencing.
Eran has a particular interest in psychological assessment and works carefully and methodically to gather meaningful information that can guide practical, everyday strategies. He values a collaborative process and works closely with families to ensure assessment outcomes are clear, supportive, and grounded in evidence-based practice.
Known for his calm, encouraging nature and strong growth mindset, Eran takes time to build rapport and help young people feel supported and understood. Whether he’s completing an assessment or engaging a young person over a game of chess, Eran is always thinking a few steps ahead - and your child may even leave with some new chess skills along the way.
Cassie Strauss
DIRECTOR | RECEPTION
Cassie is the practice manager and co-founder of Blue Door Psychology. With over 15 years’ experience leading customer-focused businesses, she oversees the day-to-day operations and broader running of the clinic to ensure everything functions smoothly behind the scenes.
Cassie is deeply involved in shaping the systems, processes, and environment that support both families and clinicians. She takes pride in creating a clinic that feels welcoming, calm, and thoughtfully designed, and in ensuring that families experience a clear, supportive, and well-organised journey from first contact through to assessment completion.
While our reception team manages front-of-house enquiries and bookings, Cassie works closely in the background to maintain high standards of care, organisation, and service across the practice.
Caitlin Muir
RECEPTION | THERAPEUDIC ASSISTANT
B Psych (Hons)
Caitlin joined the Blue Door Psychology team in January 2024 and is our reception and client services coordinator. She plays a key role in the day-to-day running of the clinic, supporting families from first contact and helping ensure the clinic runs smoothly and efficiently.
Caitlin is also an integral support person within our therapeutic Dungeons & Dragons social groups. She works closely alongside our clinical psychologist, Alex Strauss, to support participants throughout sessions.
Caitlin has a strong interest in neurodiversity and supporting children and young people to access the understanding and supports they need. She aspires to pursue further study in psychology, with the long-term goal of becoming a clinical psychologist and one day running her own assessment focused practice.
Known for her bubbly, friendly, and welcoming nature, Caitlin brings a genuine sense of warmth and positive energy to the clinic. Families often comment on how at ease she helps them feel, and we’re confident you and your child will feel right at home with her.
Sadie
WELLBEING DOG (UNOFFICIAL)
Sadie is our much-loved four-legged team member and resident therapy dog. She is a sweet senior Maltese Shih Tzu x Pomeranian who has very much made Blue Door Psychology her home.
Sadie first joined the clinic after an unfortunate injury that resulted in her losing sight in her left eye. During this time, she quickly became a favourite with families and children alike, and it soon became clear that she was meant to stay. She has since become a permanent and cherished part of the team.
You’ll often find Sadie at the clinic on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, where she enjoys greeting families and accepting plenty of pats and cuddles. She is a calm, gentle, and patient little dog who adores people and is especially fond of children.
If you or your child are not comfortable with Sadie being present during your visit, please let us know, we are always happy to accommodate your preferences.
We are proud to support families across Adelaide and the southern suburbs, and we value thoughtful assessment, clear communication and genuine care in every interaction. If you’re considering an assessment and would like to take the next step, we welcome you to get in touch or book online.
