Our team

Alex Strauss Clinical psychologist o'halloran hill

PRINCIPAL CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Alex Strauss

B Sc (Hons), M Psych Clin MAPS

Alex is our primary clinical psychologist. He has extensive experience across the contexts of psychiatric clinics, alcohol & drug counselling services, youth residential care homes, foster care and private child therapeutic & assessment practices. He is highly competent in the administration, scoring and interpretation of a broad range of child, adolescent, and adult assessments.

His passion is clinical assessments, and his specialty, as a friendly and supremely silly young man himself, is building rapport quickly with young people and making everyone he meets feel comfortable and right at home. We endeavour to make your time with us as quick and efficient as possible; however, your kids will likely have such a good time working with Alex that they will want to come back time and time again.

RECEPTION & THERAPEUDIC ASSISTANT

Caitlin Muir

Currently completing B Psych (Hons)

We welcomed Caitlin into the Blue Door Psychology team in January 2024 and she is currently coordinating the day to day running of the clinic reception and welcoming families into our services.

She is also an integral support for our new DnD therapeutic social group where she supports our participants throughout the game sessions. She works very closely with our Clinical Psychologist, Alex Strauss, to ensure these young people are not only working towards their therapeutic goals, that they are also feeling supported, safe and having an absolute ball of a time!

Caitlin aspires to follow in Alex’s footsteps and become a Clinical Psychologist. She aims to have her own clinic in the future conducting clinical assessments. Her passion is helping children and young people with a specific interest in neurodivergence and seeking ways to ensure children receive the support they need.

She is bubbly, friendly, welcoming and real ball of positive energy. We are sure you and your loved one will feel right at home with Caitlin.

WELLBEING DOG (UNOFFICIAL)

Sadie

Sadie is a sweet 9-year-old Maltese Shitzu x Pomeranian who absolutely loves her role with Blue Door Psychology. She called the clinic home for a short time after an unfortunate injury, that saw her lose sight in her left eye. She was such a hit with our families and has now since become a permanent part of the team.

You will find her at the clinic most Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays where she will be waiting to greet you for some pats and cuddles. She is very much a people dog, is very calm and patient and adores children. Please do, however, let us know if you or your child are not comfortable with her being present.

How can we help?
