Why might I need the Comprehensive Assessment option?
This assessment is required if there is a lot of complicating factors obscuring the child’s difficulties. Examples might include: extensive trauma/ complex familial environments, severe anxiety, strong autistic characteristics or even disagreement amongst parents and teachers in their observations of the child.
The comprehensive assessment includes a more intensive formal assessment that provides targeted data to help to rule out differential diagnoses or other complicating factors as sources of the child’s challenges. It provides a more accurate approach to complicated presentations by giving us a picture of a child’s strengths and weaknesses in terms of each executive function. Examples of executive functions that we gather data on include: selective attention, switching, planning, impulse control, dual attention, motor response, visual vs auditory attention and sustained attention.
It is more expensive than the ADHD Basic package because the assessment requires more time and resources. The final report is also more extensive to ensure that all relevant results and findings are presented in appropriate context.
More on the TEA-CH2
This assessment provides useful information regarding your child’s ability to use different executive functions. Specifically, it provides a rating on their sustained attention over time, their auditory attention, visual attention, ability to divide attention between auditory and visual, ability to switch between different types of information, reaction speed and ability to hold back impulses.
The results provide support for particular diagnoses and are useful for specific recommendations that can be made for schools, tutors, speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists etc.
A note on package fees & inclusions
* Package price for assessment booked from 1st August 2024 onwards
It’s important to us that we can be transparent with assessment costs upfront. In most cases, everything required for the assessment is covered by components that are included in the package. There may, however, be some cases where particular areas may arise or be highlighted during the assessment process, that were not originally presenting for investigation. The Psychologist may wish to suggest some further testing or assessments to thoroughly cover these additional areas. If this is the case, the recommendations will be made to you, as well as the potential additional fees (if any) and you can decide if you wish to proceed with these additions or not.
All prices quoted are inclusive of GST.
