Fees and Payment Information.

Payment Methods.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Debit card payments or payment via Direct Deposit. You can choose to pay online, over the phone or in person at our clinic. All credit card fees are paid for by us so there is no additional charges for card payments. We can also accept cash payment however no change is kept onsite so bringing the correct amount with you, would be appreciated.

Initial Consultation Appointment fees.

Most consultation appointments require a full 60 minutes, as there is usually a lot to cover, and will be charged at the standard appointment fee of $250.

In the case that your consultation appointment does not require the full 60-minute timeslot, you will only be charged for the actual reduced appointment duration, at either, $200 for 45 minutes or $150 for 30 minutes. You will be required to finalise the payment before leaving on the day.

Assessment Package fees.

To view our assessment prices, please visit our services page HERE.

You can choose to pay the total of the assessment package upfront, if you wish, or you can choose to make payment in parts as we go through the process.

For example, a typical Autism assessment package payment can be made in the following payments:

First appointment payment $350 (ADOS-2 Assessment, $250 and Parent/Teacher Checklists, $100)

Second appointment payment $450 (ADI-R Assessment $450)

Final appointment payment $1000 (Feedback Appointment, $200 and Comprehensive Diagnostic Report, $800)

If you choose to pay for the assessment in parts, the charge for each appointment attended must be paid, as a minimum, on the appointment day before leaving the clinic.

The fee for the Diagnostic Report does not need to be paid at the final appointment. You may pay this fee at any time but please note; the final diagnostic report will not be written and provided by the Psychologist, until full payment has been made and there are no outstanding balances.

Please also note.

There may be some cases, regardless of if a consultation appointment was attended, where particular areas may arise or be highlighted during the assessment process, that were not originally presenting for investigation. The Psychologist may wish to suggest some further testing or assessments to thoroughly cover these additional areas. If this is the case, the recommendations will be made to you, as well as the associated fees (if any) and you can decide if you wish to proceed with these further recommendations or not.

Funding.

Private health

Many private health care providers will cover psychological services and assessments, some do not. Each family’s cover can be different, so it is recommended that you contact your private health care provider to ask whether this is included under your specific health care plan.

Where you are eligible for a rebate through your Private Health Fund, we recommend paying by appointment to maximise the amount you are entitled to claim.

We can process claims through the clinic EFTPOS terminal on the day of your appointment, where you will only be required to pay the gap, if a rebate is provided. Alternatively, once full payment has been made, you can submit the invoice receipt we provide to your health fund to claim your rebate.

If your private health provider requires additional details to quote you on your rebate entitlements, you may provide them with the below information. You can also download a copy of an invoice example here.

Psychologists name: Mr Alex Strauss

Psychologist’s provider number: 5666584K

Item number (initial consultation): 100

Item number (assessment appointment): 200

Medicare

Unfortunately, Medicare rebates cannot be provided in most circumstances for the assessment services provided.

Medicare will provide a partial rebate for an Autism (ASD) assessment, under these very specific circumstances:

  • The referral must be made to the clinical psychologist by a paediatrician or psychiatrist for collaboration under Helping Children With Autism (HCWA) initiative.

  • The child must be younger than 13

  • The paediatrician or consultant psychiatrist must already have developed a treatment plan for that young person.

If these criteria are met, the rebate is approximately $93.35 per assessment appointment for a maximum of 4 appointments, which means the maximum rebate available on an Autism assessment would be approximately $373.

(In circumstances where the child is considered to have a disability, a G.P. can make the referral for the Autism assessment and the family may receive the four rebates, rather than requiring a paediatrician or psychiatrist. For a full list of eligible disabilities, for these purposes, please click here)

If you are wanting to claim this rebate, you will need to have this referral prior to attending your appointment with us.

NDIS

The NDIS unfortunately does not cover diagnostic assessments, regardless of how the plan is managed.
