Autism Spectrum Disorder

(ASD) Assessment.

Ages 4 - 18 Years

This comprehensive assessment is performed to assess whether characteristics typical of Autism Spectrum Disorder are present.

The assessment includes the administration of both the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS-2) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R)

If a diagnosis of ASD is confirmed, you will not require a secondary diagnosis by another practitioner. Check out our FAQs page to learn more.

The assessment process involves the psychologist making detailed clinical observations about the ways in which your child plays and interacts with others. This is combined with observations made by other people that know your child well, to see whether they have difficulty with social communication, social interaction and repetitive restricted behaviours or interests. This will determine if a diagnosis of ASD will be warranted.

More on the ADOS -2

The ADOS-2 is an assessment that your clinician administers to your child. It involves several different games, activities and semi structured conversations with a set of specific observations that your psychologist is making while interacting with your child. This provides a snapshot of your child’s current functioning in terms of social communication, social interaction, and repetitive restricted behaviours or interests.

More on the ADI-R

The ADI-R is a comprehensive and extensive semi-structured interview administered by the clinician with the parents only. It is a deep and nuanced examination of your child’s developmental history and progression of concerns. It systematically covers the presence and history of every concern that is likely to be present in the case of a diagnosis of ASD. While the ADOS-2 provides useful information about your child’s current functioning, the ADI-R provides useful historical and lifespan scale information to detect how things have progressed and what has remained consistent.

A note on package fees & inclusions

* Package price for assessment booked from 1st August 2024 onwards

It’s important to us that we can be transparent with assessment costs upfront. In most cases, everything required for the assessment is covered by components that are included in the package. There may, however, be some cases where particular areas may arise or be highlighted during the assessment process, that were not originally presenting for investigation. The Psychologist may wish to suggest some further testing or assessments to thoroughly cover these additional areas. If this is the case, the recommendations will be made to you, as well as the potential additional fees (if any) and you can decide if you wish to proceed with these additions or not.
